⛩ The Exploration Battalion is one of three Military branches making up the Paradise Army, alongside the Garrison and Special Operations Squad.
As its name suggests, it is a section specialized in investigations, patrols and outdoor expeditions beyond the Walls concerning the Titans, their origin and the study of possibilities for their extermination. It is therefore considered a suicide unit since humans are supposed to be "powerless" against the Titans.

Since the Fall of Shiganshina, the Exploration Battalion's objective has been to restore to humanity the freedom it once lost during the Titans' invasion and the destruction of Wall Maria.

This is why their emblem represents two wings, called the "wings of freedom". Following the revelation in Eren's basement, the Exploration Battalion turned its attention to the outside world and more specifically to the Marleyan people.
