⛩ Zangetsu is the manifested spirit of the hollow powers of Ichigo Kurosaki as well as his inner Hollow. He was variously called Hollow Ichigo , more correctly called White .

Zangetsu is the result of the fusion between the white hollow that Ichigo inherited from his mother and the Shinigami powers inherited from his father. He himself declared that he represents the purest instincts of Ichigo.

The Shikai form of Zangetsu resembles a huge butcher's knife. Unlike most Zanpakutōs, which can be sealed in their original form, the blade is always in its Shikai form. Yoruichi Shihoin declares that this Zanpakutō is constantly in its released form because of the vast but uncontrollable Reiryoku of Ichigo, during his generation.

Tensa Zangetsu , its Bankai form, is considered extraordinary for any Zanpakutō. Unlike most Bankai which create some kind of creature or massive effect, the bankai of Zangetsu actually shrinks its sword to make it look like a Daitō (long Japanese sword).
