⛩ Shimotsuki Ryuma was a legendary samurai of the Land of Wano, who lived during the "Golden Age" of Wano, centuries ago.

His unmatched mastery of the sword earned him mythical fame and the title of " God of Blades ". One of his legendary exploits was successfully killing a dragon. He is also the direct ancestor of Shimotsuki Ushimaru and Roronoa Zoro .

Two decades before the start of the story, Ryuma's tomb in Ringo was plundered and his body along with his sword were stolen by Gecko Moria . Eventually, his corpse was resurrected by Moria's power who gave him Brook's shadow. He transformed him into a Zombie General to serve him on Thriller Bark, causing Ryuma to become an antagonist of the Thriller Bark Arc, until his defeat by Roronoa Zoro .
