⛩ Griffith is the leader of a band of mercenaries called the Falcon troupe where he will win multiple battles.
Then he meets Guts who manages to defeat the entire troupe, except him. He forces Guts to join his group following a wager between him and Guts , a wager that Griffith quickly wins since it is a fencing duel. Because of Guts 's talents, he will name him leader of the cavalry. After reconquering several lands, he and the entire troupe are ennobled by the king. He will also capture a stronghold and will be promoted to general. The Queen tries to assassinate him, in vain, as he remains alive and has Guts kill her. Later, Guts wanting to leave the brigade, he reminds him that he had wagered his freedom on their sword fight, and that he must fight him again to reclaim it. A fight that Guts will win easily, due to the experience he has acquired over the years, and leaves.
Griffith is too weak, physically and mentally, and forcefully reveals the marks of the wounds he suffered during his year of torture. He will also end up activating the red Behelit , leading to the Eclipse . To realize his dream, create a perfect world, he will sacrifice what he holds most dear in the world: his troupe. All will die, except Guts and Casca who survive, but at a terrible price: Guts loses his left arm, and Casca goes mad after being raped by Griffith 's God Hand form, Femto .
Femto seems immortal, he is called an archangel by Void , and has lost all human feeling.
After these events, Guts 's quest will be to take revenge on Griffith and the God Hands who accompany him, he will live only for this, even if it means hurting people in his quest...
