⛩ Kenpachi Zaraki is the 11th captain of the Gotei 13. During his past as a criminal before his career as a Shinigami where he lived in the 80th North District of the Rukongai, Zaraki met a young girl with pink hair from Kusajishi, the 79th North District, and decided to name her Yachiru because of the woman he admires and respects above all else. Yachiru would become his faithful partner throughout the story, eventually becoming his Vice-Captain once he became Captain.

During his childhood, he was already an exceptional swordsman and killed all life until his encounter with the 1st Captain of the 11th Division and the first kenpachi, Yachiru Unohana . Having held his own against her, he set himself the goal of surpassing her. After defeating Kenpachi Kiganjô , he becomes the Eleventh Shinigami to have this title of exceptional fighter.

His reputation as a bloodthirsty warrior makes him despicable to Byakuya Kuchiki and Kaname Tōsen , respected by Ikkaku Madarame and Yumichika Ayasegawa as well as feared by Yoruichi Shihōin . His combat power would be a key factor in the war against the Quincy.
