He is part of a "special race", that of the Buccaneers and accepted to be transformed into a Cyborg by Dr. Vegapunk and the World Government for the sake of his daughter Jewelry Bonney whom he loved more than anything. Before being transformed into a cyborg, he was the king of the Kingdom of Sorbet , known throughout the kingdom for his boundless kindness, his title of " Tyrant " being quite ironic...
As soon as Vegapunk finished transforming Kuma into a Pacifista , the Warlord of the Sea became the first of the series, bearing the serial number PX-0 , he became the ultimate slave of the Celestial Dragons , known as the invincible slave .
He ate the Nikyu Nikyu no Mi which allows him to repel everything through his palms and thus for example to teleport or send people flying to the other side of the world.
