⛩ Giyu Tomioka is a demon slayer and the Water Pillar part of the Demon Slayer Corps.
Giyu grew up alongside his older sister, Tsutako Tomioka . When he was still a child, his sister sacrificed herself to protect him from demons.
After the death of Tsutako , Giyu tried to tell others that she had been killed by a demon, but people thought he was mentally ill and he was sent to one of his relatives, a doctor. Giyu escaped during the journey and nearly died on a mountain, but he was saved and became an apprentice under the direction of Sakonji Urokodaki .
Giyu was 13 years old when he met Sabito , and they became good friends because of their similar pasts and ages. Together, they participated in the Final Selection on Mount Fujikasane. Giyu was injured after a demon's attack and was saved by Sabito , who defeated almost all the demons on the mountain. However, after the week had passed, it was revealed to Giyu that Sabito was the only one who died during their selection. As a result, Giyu began to develop doubt about the authenticity of his position after becoming the Water Pillar .
As a Pillar of the Demon Slayer Corps, Giyu is a very powerful swordsman. He was able to easily defeat the transformed Spider Demon Father and Rui , the Fifth Lower Moon.
