⛩ Nika was a legendary, mythical warrior who was once revered as the God of the Sun by certain slaves since ancient times. He is the second nickname of Joy Boy since Zunesha says that Joy Boy has returned when Luffy awakens for the first time in Wano and the World Government mentions the other name of the Gomu directly alluding to the liberator warrior Nika.
It is revealed that Luffy's fruit was formerly known as the Hito Hito no Mi, Nika model, or Human Fruit, Nika version in English, of which Nika is the model. The awakening of the Gomu Gomu no Mi thus transforms Luffy into the incarnation of Nika, and is considered by Luffy as his Gear 5.
