⛩ Hantengu is a member of the Twelve Demon Moons , more precisely the Fourth Upper Moon , before being replaced by Nakime . He is also the main antagonist of the Swordsmith Village Arc, accompanied by Gyokko .
Hantengu is characterized by extreme cowardice and agitation. He is easily frightened by what happens in his environment, displaying traits of paranoia, fear, and delirium. This extreme paranoia is particularly evident in the fact that he always chooses to crawl instead of walking upright.
When he was still human, Hantengu was known to have committed many heinous crimes. Robbing many innocents and murdering them in various cities and villages while claiming he was innocent and that it wasn't him who committed these crimes. He blamed his "Hands" for his actions, thus suggesting that he was also mentally unstable and perhaps delusional due to his claims.
As the 4th Demon Moon , Hantengu is very powerful despite his fearful appearance. His demonic power allows him, through clones, to materialize his emotions, so we find fear , anger , sadness , and even joy . Each of these clones has powers related to the elements.
