⛩ Escanor is the Lion of Pride of the Seven Deadly Sins . He is renowned for obtaining immense power as the Sun rises and for weakening progressively as it sets, leaving him fragile at night. His Sacred Treasure is the Divine Axe, Rhitta .

Escanor was born prince of the Kingdom of Castex . His brother Daymond , used to hit him because he clung too much to their parents then he developed the Sunshine power and broke his helpless brother's arm. He was thus driven out of his native kingdom but he was helped by Rosa, a woman ready to help him. He traveled throughout the world, even killing monsters. Finally, he met Meliodas and Merlin , then on the same occasion joined the Seven Deadly Sins.

The personality of Escanor varies depending on night and day. Indeed when it's night, Escanor is very fearful, shy and sorely lacking in self-confidence, the complete opposite of proud (normal given that at night, his strength is almost zero). But when day breaks, he finally shows his power and becomes extremely proud and arrogant, considering himself at the pinnacle of the human species. Thus, he feels pity towards his opponents, being sure he can crush them. He is both the least inclined (at night) and the most inclined (during the day) to his sin among his companions. He loves writing poems that are usually addressed to Merlin for whom he has a weakness.

His magical ability is actually the Grace of the Sun, formerly possessed by Mael of the Four Archangels.
