⛩The 7 Deadly Sins were the most powerful Order of Sacred Knights in the Kingdom of Liones.

Each member of the group had been judged and found guilty of committing an "intimate sin" which was considered "unforgivable" in the eyes of the 5 Great Clans, their title being attributed to the fundamental moral fault that caused this crime. Although this seems clear, for most of them, extenuating circumstances were at play.

After being accused of assassinating the Grand Master General of the Sacred Knights, Zaratras, their Order was indefinitely dissolved, and they were branded as traitors and criminals. They are, along with a few other characters, the main protagonists of the series.

Unknown even to most of its members, The 7 Deadly Sins were formed for the explicit purpose of defeating the Ten Commandments of the Demon Clan. King Bartra had indeed sensed, during one of his visions, that they would become the protectors of Britannia. Meliodas and Merlin , who already knew they would be part of the group, took it upon themselves to find the five other members, in order to crush the Ten Commandments , should they be released from the Coffin of Eternal Darkness .
